Not Yet One

Not Yet One

“The most fragile and most intense point of encounter.”

Not Yet One inhabits the most fragile and most intense point of encounter: the one where two presences are no longer truly distant, but have not yet become unity.

At the center of the work, immersed in a dense and layered material, two dark lines emerge within a golden verticality that crosses the surface like a descent of light, a fissure, a possibility. They do not touch, and it is precisely in this missed coincidence that the deep tension of the work resides. The painting does not tell of accomplished union, but of the moment that precedes it: the silent stretch where distance ceases to be fracture and begins to transform into listening, approach, reconciliation.

The warm tones of gold, ochre, and deep reds coexist with darker, more restrained zones, as if the work held together both the memory of separation and the promise of a possible peace. The material, crossed by drips, glazes, and sedimentations, makes visible an inner time: not the swift instant of contact, but the slow process through which two forces recognize each other.

Not Yet One is a work about the almost, but an almost full of meaning. And the painting finds its deepest truth: not in arrival, but in imminence.
